Qwidget code update - slawlor - 06-26-2014

Questionpoint has made some changes to the Qwidget code. If you're using a qwidget chat box, check it, and if you need help updating, let me know.

Hello - Regarding the Qwidget code (old or new) -- Has anyone recently and successfully embedded it in Blackboard? Since the latest Blackboard update, we haven't been able to add the old or new widget. At this point we think it's an issue with Bb but I wanted to see if anyone else has had problems?

RE: Qwidget code update - dphillips - 07-27-2015

I am creating a libguide, and I want to put the LRC Live 24/7 widget in it. I copied another VCSS college's widget, but when I test it, it says that I am from that college and not from mine. Is there a list that tells the widget codes for each the college? I am from SWCC.
Thank you,
Diane Phillips

You have to log into Questionpoint and create your own Qwidget code, they are college specific.

I've posted instructions in the How To Articles section of the Knowledge Base forum. Let me know if these don't make sense.

Hi, Susan,
Your instructions make sense. I printed the doc that you posted in the How To Forum; however, when I logged on to QuestionPoint, there is not an Administration option for me under the Select Service dropdown. Only Ask, Chat, Knowledge Base, Profile, and Reports are given as my options. Under Account Privileges I am listed with the Account Type --- Librarian.
I am the only librarian on our campus who provides LRC Live service, but I will ask my coordinator if she has administrative rights.
Thanks,
Diane

Clarification - You'll need to log in with your college's administrator id and password, which will be different from your librarian login. If you don't know what that is, check with Jacque Dessino, she is the keeper of the admins list.

Regarding the Qwidget code update:
Back in 2013, I created a Qwidget for every college as part of the college mobile library app. QuestionPoint revised the Qwidget code in June, but it turns out there is a bug in the revised version so I am holding off. None of the Qwidgets I created have been updated yet, but the old ones still work. The vendor plans to release a code update later this Summer, and I plan to provide updated versions of all Qwidgets once it is safe to do so. Thanks for your patience! tc

RE: Qwidget code update - jdessino - 07-28-2015

Every college already has a Qwidget created for them by Tara Cassidy. She did this when the mobile library sites were created. You should be able to get the existing Qwidget code from Tara.

Also, QuestionPoint has made some big changes to the Qwidget, but they found out that the new Qwidget contains a big glitch and have suggested that everyone hold off on creating a new Qwidget until the glitch is fixed, probably next month.

Tara has said that she will create a new Qwidget for each school once the fix is in place.

Tara and I must have been typing at the same time. Smile
