Subject: System-wide Message about New Horizons

Good morning,

In spite of our most optimistic wishes that things would improve prior to our New Horizons conference in April, the reality has not moved in the direction of our hopes.

After careful consideration and evaluation of the current situation with COVID-19 as well as the overall response in Virginia and across the nation, I have made the decision to cancel the New Horizons conference scheduled April 15-17, 2020.

The health and safety of meeting participants, speakers, and staff are my first priority.  Though this event is just on the other side of the minimum 30 day limit on large gatherings in the Governor’s emergency declaration, we know that even if things have improved at that time your focus will be on your own students and campus community and students returning to normalcy.

Information is being provided on the event registration webpage as well as directly to the registered participants via email. At this time, you do not need to take any action concerning the cancellation.

We look forward to the next opportunity to gather at New Horizons in April 2021.

I hope that you and your families stay safe and well.

Glenn DuBois
