"Dear Colleagues,
This academic continuity plan template for the colleges (sometimes referred to as the instructional continuity plan) will be shared today with Presidents and Vice Presidents by the System Office. As you can imagine, I am incredibly proud of my eLET group for all the hard work that went into producing such a useful document for the colleges.
This document is meant to be edited by you to make it college-specific. (Note: You are not required to use this document. Several of you already have one and others have built out their custom version based on this one. Therefore it important for you to meet with your instructional designers and librarians before sharing this out with your faculty.)
Faculty professional development training in Canvas and Zoom is this month. Click here to register.

Academic Continuity Plan for Virginia’s Community Colleges
The “Get Online Fast” (GOLF) plan was developed by the eLET committee with representation from all 23 colleges and the System Office. The VCCS realizes that potential impact on instruction for many different local, state, and national emergencies. The “Get Online Fast” plan would allow colleges to provide instruction in the event that students and faculty were required to remain away from campuses. We understand that it is essential to provide students an uninterrupted academic experience. Instructors would likely draw largely upon successful online course instructional strategies in the event of a university/college closure due to a pandemic. These may include virtual office hours and instructor conferences, live or recorded lectures made available online, live discussions or discussion boards, and online submission of assignments and other materials for course assessment.
The “Get Online Fast” document provides faculty with preparation to move courses online, online best practices, technology guides, Canvas tutorials, and many other helpful resources. eLET would like to thank NOVA and Germanna for sharing their plans that served as the basis for this document. The links provided below allow each college to make a copy and personalize the information so that it is college-specific.
