Runaway Kanopy costs - slawlor - 04-23-2019
Just curious as to what, if anything, you all are doing about Kanopy costs. After racking up over $4,000 in invoices since the beginning of the fiscal year, I suppressed all the records in Primo. That appears to have curbed things a bit, but it just seems wrong to have a resource that we're trying to prevent people from using.
I know that they offer mediated access, but most of what I've read about that sounds like it's a lot of extra work and not user friendly.
I also saw a webinar demo from Proquest on their AVON product recently, and while we'd have to do a content comparison, it looked like it might be a more predictably priced substitute.
Any thoughts?

We aren't having that problem but it's not as easy to get to those records at GCC. You could try just making a smaller pool of content available?

We haven't been having runaway costs, but they may be starting since we've had fairly large invoices last month and this one. We also have AVON, but I haven't had time to see if the films being used in Kanopy are available in AVON. j
