Very New to ALMA - Bob Harrison - 07-21-2020

Hello Everyone,

I am Robert Harrison from Thomas Nelson Community College, and I have been given cataloging and circulation duties for the college while we are in this state of influx. I have viewed several training videos, and have been catching on fairly quickly. However, I would be most grateful, if I could meet attend live training either in person or online so I may learn more about the specifics of ALMA, especially running circulation reports and such. The videos are great, but I tend to pick things up quicker with a live person I can ask questions to during hands-on training.

Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.

Hi Bob,

Can you explain more about what training you specifically need?  What do you need to do in Alma that you're struggling with?

Hi Jacqueline,

I am basically looking to learn how to run and print reports, especially circulation reports. For instance, I would like to run reports on overdue and lost items and I would like to sort them by type of resources such as laptops, hotspots, and calculators. I would like to set up this report/job to run automatically if I can.

Hi Bob,

I can help with that.  Have you already viewed the introductory Alma training videos on Analytics and played around with it?

Here: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Training/Alma_Administration_Certification/Analytics

And then if you really want to go deep...here: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Training/Extended_Training/Presentations_and_Documents_-_Analytics

Send me an email at jcarrell@pvcc.edu, and we can set up Zoom call, if you'd like.  I've got several automatic circulation reports set up.  If you can include the specific details of the reports you need, I can work on them ahead of time and use those as examples.

Hi Jacqueline,

I have viewed the videos and I think I just figured it out. I still would like to go over it with you if I could. Basically, I needed a report that showed overdue and lost items that have not been returned since March when the COVID shutdown started.
