Legislation to establish an Open Resources Innovation Council
#1
Legislation was recently introduced in the House of Delegates which would establish an Open Resources Innovation Council:

The bill has been referred to the House Education committee but has not been scheduled for a hearing yet.

Pleas see this update from Dr. Sebastian:

"This morning the House Education Committee forwarded the HB2041 to the House Appropriations Committee for a fiscal impact evaluation. Translation: the bill will most likely languish and die there, alone and unloved. Sad

On a more positive note, there seems to have been a recognizable shift in the level of awareness of the related issues of textbook affordability and OER among members of the General Assembly since last year. I hope the bill’s sponsor, Del. Eileen Filler-Corn, will continue to advocate for and support OER efforts in the Commonwealth."
