Hi everyone,
We've been reviewing the OCLC publishing job that runs in Alma to automatically add/delete holdings from OCLC. I realized that PVCC had an incorrect setting in our Data Sync Collection settings in WorldShare that I wanted to alert everyone to. If the "Use Record Status for Processing" isn't marked "Yes," then it will add holdings to every single record that goes up from Alma to OCLC. So, if you delete a book from Alma, the publishing job will send it to OCLC as "deleted" but OCLC won't pay attention to that if this setting doesn't say "Yes" and it will ADD holdings to the record. Even if you already manually deleted them, it will put them back.
To fix this:
We've been reviewing the OCLC publishing job that runs in Alma to automatically add/delete holdings from OCLC. I realized that PVCC had an incorrect setting in our Data Sync Collection settings in WorldShare that I wanted to alert everyone to. If the "Use Record Status for Processing" isn't marked "Yes," then it will add holdings to every single record that goes up from Alma to OCLC. Even if you already manually deleted them, it will put them back.
To fix this:
- Login to WorldShare.
- Click the Metadata tab.
- Click the Collection Manager drop-down menu.
- In the Scope drop-down menu, select Data Sync Collection.
- If you don't know what you called your collection, I think you can just search it with the field empty.
- Click your collection name.
- In the Properties tab, check to see if you "Use Record Status for Processing" says Yes:

- If it does, then you're good. If it says "No," then you need to contact OCLC to change that.
- I *think* you can do that in the Comments section on that page OR you can call/email them to change it.
