QuestionPoint to SpringShare Migration - Spring 2020

Dear colleagues,
VCCS will migrate chat reference from the OCLC QuestionPoint platform to the SpringShare LibAnswers platform. The LibAnswers go-live date is May 29, 2020. I am working closely with SpringShare to develop an implementation plan for VCCS. Please watch for more details in the next few weeks.

I know folks are wondering about this. Springshare and I will talk today and determine how to move this forward as soon as possible.

In the short term, I recommend that libraries who want to offer chat directly to their college users set up a static Zoom room, and offer CC students the option to connect directly with a Librarian via Zoom for research help. This local Zoom option can be posted on the library site, with language such as JTCCs’:
‘Connect with a JTCC librarian in the Reference Room Zoom conference  (recommended for research help) 9 a.m.-5 p.m. ‘https://vccs.zoom.us/my/CCref’

I used Libchat/Zoom yesterday with a student and it was a fantastic user experience. So looking forward to the Springshare/LRC Live integration.
