Some of you might have been asked to work on professional development during the COVID19 interruption. It could be helpful to focus on skills development during such uncertainty. I hope you will share what you are doing and any resources you are using. However big or small it might seem to you, it could encourage someone else.

I went to check out Go2Knowledge and was frustrated because I couldn't find a way to get information about what is covered in a particular webinar without it automatically starting that webinar. Has anyone used this before and know of a way to just get info about or preview an offering?

We are encouraging our staff to make use of Hoonuit (I assume this is VCCS-wide and not just a VWCC product) and the COVLC. They can brush up on computer skills, safety topics, etc. While not library-specific, there are plenty of topics through these sources that we generally aren't able to get to. I also saw this fabulous list online:
http://www.libraryjournal.com/?detailSto...-from-home. I haven't had a chance to see if any are available for free. I imagine there will be a cost...but they're supposed to be available in electronic format. There are also some videos on customer service and things of that sort in Kanopy and FOD. Most are borderline comical due to poor acting or dated clothing/equipment. But desperate times....

I've been scouring my listservs to see what's going on, and here's what I found so far that seemed useful to me that's COVID-19 specific:
I would love to know what listservs people are part of. I'm sure there are some that I don't know about. This is what I follow:
Then there are the discussion boards:
What other listservs do people really like?

Work From Home Ideas Wanted!
A popular question in the 4/1 Zoom discussion: how are different libraries/colleges keeping remote staff occupied? Are there any 'work from home project' ideas that your library has come up with?

Booklist and Library Journal have opened access to all their content during the COVID crisis, so part-time librarians can read book reviews for collection development. Also, most of Reynolds Libraries' virtual reference desk hours are staffed by part-time workers 8:30 am to 8:30 pm Monday-Sunday.
