Guest login?
#1
Do we have any way to give a guest login to people without an SIS profile?  I'm thinking of a couple scenarios:

1.  Someone applying for a position which requires a teaching demo as part of their interview, a guest login would allow them to prepare using the resources that we have available

2. A way for vendors to troubleshoot when we're having access issues

There used to be a Questionpoint login/password that we could give people for scenario #1 (which we lost years ago),  scenario #2 is probably a different beast

just wondering......

Hi Susan,

I have one test MyVCCS account that ITS gave us for troubleshooting. We occasionally share the credentials with vendors who are working with us, but we like to keep it pretty close so that we don't get locked out or upset the ITS security folks. I would not feel comfortable sharing with staff or applicants in scenario 1. The other problem with this account is that it only has a generic VCCS profile, so can only ever access shared VCCS resources, and would not be helpful for testing access to local resources.

I believe your college's IT probably has the ability to create a MyVCCS account similar to the one we have for testing SO resources. Would it be possible to ask them about getting one scoped for Thomas Nelson? If so I would be happy to give them more information about the LDAP attributes proxy uses to determine affiliation.

Emily:

One of the issues we have is that we cannot provide any credentials for the Coop librarians to use with our students on LRC Live, which is the preferred way to be set up and considered a 'Best Practice.' Back when we had the old back door access, we created an account for each school. While I realize why those various methods are no longer available, and the need for security, if we were able to figure out some way to provide access, that would be a big help. For example, if I were to get my IT department to create a myVCCS account similar to the one you have for testing SO resources, could I put the information into the TCC policy document for QuestionPoint? j
