Hello,
I know this question has been asked fairly recently, but JTCC is looking to replace our old Motorola Symbol barcode scanners, and we wondered what recommendations anybody might have for new scanners.
We are looking for wireless and/or USB connected, hands-free/handheld.
There doesn't really seem to be a Motorola Symbol anymore.
Thanks!

We use Honeywell scanners. They used to be Metrologic but Honeywell bought them out some years ago. We have a variety of them, both wired USB scanners and 2 kinds of wireless. If you want more info on them, let me know.

I know this thread is terribly old, but I would like to note that library supply companies are among the most expensive places to buy barcode readers. For most wired applications, anyway, most barcode readers will work. I've had good luck purchasing from Daly Computers, and the cheap readers (less than $50.00) work fine. Look for a stand, if you like hands-free operation, and make sure the plug is USB-A. Daly is an eVA vendor with a punchout catalog and they have a state contract for computer peripherals, so eVA approval is easy. I don't have any experience with wireless readers. But for our circulation needs, most barcode readers work. We've found that even the ones that come without programming barcodes will work with other companies' barcodes. You'd use those to set the beep volume, for example, and whether scanning is automatic or you have to pull a trigger.
