Good question, Dana. I hadn't even thought about our Google Scholar setup! We had to change the Open URL for the linc resolver for any vendor where we had a local resource if there was no shared resource from that vendor, so we probably have to do the same for Google Scholar. I'm pretty sure I did the initial Google Scholar setup, so I assume we'd have to do it ourselves. I will wait until Tara or Emily replies before doing anything, however. j

Publishing Electronic Holdings to Google Scholar was configured in May 2018 as part of Alma implementation for NZ resources at all colleges as well as local resources at CVCC, GCC, JSRCC, NRCC, NVCC, PDCCC, PHCC, PVCC, RCC, SWCC, TCC, TNCC, VWCC.
I don't see "Virginia Community College System - LincIT" anymore, but I do see "Piedmont Virginia Community College - ProQuest FullText." Is that the only link we use now? Or is it there another one called something else?

Ditto for TCC. The only link I see for TCC is "Tidewater Community College Current Account - ProQuest FullText" and the only Virginia Community College System listing is also for ProQuest FullText.

What does NZ mean? And does "ProQuest Fulltext" mean it's searching all of the resources that are in the Journal List like a link resolver would or is it just searching our ProQuest databases? If it's like a link resolver, can we make it say something else instead? Like Find It at TNCC, etc? (Please forgive my lack of vocab and understanding of how this stuff works now. I have left all the Primo stuff to Susan and she's not here today)

NZ is the Network Zone in Alma . That is where all the shared resources live. Also, I did some testing from home yesterday and sent screen shots to Tara to give more details on the issue. Basically, if you activate the library link labeled 'your college' -- ProQuest FullText, you are only going to be able to access Proquest articles. And there is no other option for any VCCS institution or the VCCS as a whole. I checked VCU, which is also an Alma library and their Scholar listing is for the entire link resolver. Since the link resolver in Scholar has to be activated by the link resolver vendor (Ex Libris), I think something went wrong in implementation.
So, thanks for asking this question (and apologies for calling you Dana!), since the rest of other didn't think to check! j

Is there any update on this? Did we figure out if the problem with the Google Scholar listing not showing our entire link resolver was connected to implementation? Do we have a ticket in with Ex Libris?
Thanks!

The Google Scholar - Library Links - ProQuest Full Text option for your college is currently the only live option. This is not coming from Alma; it is completely separate and controlled from the ProQuest Admin module. I enabled this soon after go-live because the old Google Scholar VCCS-LincIT URL stopped working when Alma replaced SFX. The standalone ProQuest option, although it is limited to ProQuest databases, is a reliable temporary way to maintain some visibility and access point in Google Scholar while we addressed the various problems with electronic resources migration from Aleph/SFX to Alma.
Now that electronic resources in Alma are stabilized for the most part, I have test publishing runs to Google Scholar active in the Tidewater and Germanna instances. This test job schedule begins 6/29/2019:
Saturdays 0100 - Publish NZ electronic records to Google Scholar. When publishing to Google Scholar in a collaborative network, the export process must be run at the VCCS Network Zone the day before it is run at each member institution.
Sundays at 0100 - Publish IZ electronic records to Google Scholar (just TCC/GCC for now).
Of course once the Alma publishing jobs run, complete harvesting/processing by Google takes at least a week, then more time to appear in Google Scholar results in order to test. I will update when there is something for TCC and GCC to test in Google Scholar (most likely after 7/14). Once we determine that this works, we will enable the jobs for all colleges and deactivate the ProQuest 'library link' for those who no longer want it.

After I received the notification that the sunday job had finished, I tried Google Scholar to see what I could find. I know you said it would take at least a week, but I am not a patient person, apparently!! Results of Sunday testing:
1. When I go to the Library Links page in setting and search for Tidewater Community College I now have 2 results. The original ProQuest link discussed and a link called, Tidewater Community College (VCCS) - ReadIt@TidewaterCC.
2. I mucked around searching for articles that were in ProQuest databases and actually found one that already had ReadIt@TidewaterCC as an option!!''
See attached screen prints.

I'm checking in on this again! How's the testing going at GCC and TCC? I do see the "Virginia Community College Network" as an option when searching the Library Links in Google Scholar. I'm guessing that's the NZ job. I don't see anything PVCC-specific yet, so I assume the IZ job hasn't been activated for everyone yet. Do you think that could be done before fall starts (for PVCC, that's 8/19)?
Thanks!

You're welcome. There are still a few loose ends on this, but GScholar finally picked up recent corrections and changes last night! Based on recent testing, students can now locate articles in Google Scholar that successfully connect to full text subscriptions via your CC Primo, from shared as well as local activations your institution may maintain in your Alma IZ. Many thanks to TCC & GCC for serving as the test sites for this setup process. Note to TCC and GCC - the GScholar TEST label should go away any day now.
Please know that I recently designated someone at each college to receive a "Publishing to Google Scholar - Completed Successfully" report from Alma. If you don't want this weekly email, or would prefer Alma to send it to another address, just let me know.
In Scholar - Settings - Library Links - Show library access links for (choose up to five libraries), there is no need for users to select anything other than My Community College to see the GScholar @MyCCLibrary link to content they can access. Specifically, when searching for GScholar Library access links, please ignore:
1. Virginia Community College System Network - this isn't a real library and won't do anything for a user. All GScholar result links contain a college name.
2. My Community College Current Account - ProQuest Fulltext library - This should go away any day now. If you recall, it was a temporary PQ-centric option activated when SFX was decommissioned last year in order to maintain some level of GScholar service for the colleges until Alma's e-resources were ready to be published.

I created a guide on Google Scholar (or probably modified someone else's years ago) if anyone wants to copy it. I also have a publisher file for a handout that's linked in the guide, but the forum won't let me attach that file type. Let me know if you want it.
