We will be performing a patron purge on 9/24/2019. Alma removes old patrons from the system based on the "purge date" in the patron record. Unfortunately, it is technically possible for a patron to have a purge date in the past, but be an active patron with a future expiry date. This occurs in Internal accounts, or in expired External accounts where staff have overriden and extended the expiry date.
Most colleges either had no or a handful of active users with past purge dates, and in those cases where the situation was clear, I adjusted the purge date to one year beyond the expiry date. Some colleges had more complicated or extensive issues, and I have already contacted those with more information.
Please remind staff who manage patron accounts that purge dates are not automatically adjusted when an expired patron is renewed. We have contacted Ex Libris about this issue, and requested a future enhancement, but there is no telling when or whether we might see such a change.
Thanks, and please let me know if you have any questions.
Emily
