Good morning! One of my ITN faculty let me know that students are only able to view about a 1-minute preview snippet of some O'Reilly videos. I thought I remembered that our VIVA contract is for unlimited access, so I'm not sure what's going on. When I logged in today, I'm only able to watch about 30-60 seconds of most videos before a message pops up about requesting a free trial of O'Reilly. I checked our URL, and we have the most updated one from June. Anyone else having access issues?

NOVA is experiencing 403 errors whenever a user attempts to view a video. Under the error, it states, "Your subscription doesn't grant you access to this content. For access, please subscribe to an individual account."
Definitely sounds like something on the vendor side, since we can authenticate and read eBooks on the platform just fine.
This is a known issue and we've been going back and forth with O'Reilly about it. It's an issue on their platform related to proxy authentication, and unfortunately we are not able to fix it on our end, so we are waiting on the vendor. In the meantime, if you are assisting a patron access a specific video resource, please use the 'walk-in patron' instructions at the bottom of this page: https://vccs.libguides.com/c.php?g=982304&p=7104212

Tidewater is experiencing the 403 error today. Yesterday, 10/19, the ebooks loaded, but not the video content. Today, all content is not accessible and met with 403 Forbidden: No Access message. I have let Jacque Dessino know. Emily, thank you for the work-around instructions.
I didn't see anything as to whether this was happening when accessing via Primo, the O'Reilly platform, or both, so I decided to try it both ways. When I went directly to the O'Reilly platform, I was able to view videos without any error message. And I made sure to let the video run for a few minutes. When I tried to access the same video (Python Programming by Mike McMillan) through Primo, I got the 403 error. Since the error occurred on the O'Reilly site, I went up to the O'Reilly search box and searched for the video and was able to watch it with no problem.
Emily: does this O'Reilly authentication issue occur only under certain circumstances, or only intermittently, or was I just lucky?

I'm sorry I didn't see this message last week, and am sorry that you were seeing the O'Reilly error message again. We did work with the vendor, and this should have been resolved as of October 7th or so. If you are still seeing this issue, could you please open a ticket with the steps you used to reproduce? I am not seeing this problem at the moment, but it sounds like it's only happening in certain scenarios anyway...
