The message below went to all VIVA institution ILL contacts on 9/23/2020. I will share any further information as it becomes available.

"The VIVA Steering Committee has approved a subscription to the RapidILL (https://rapid.exlibrisgroup.com/) service for the public institutions... VIVA is still negotiating terms with Ex Libris.
The goal of implementing this software is to decrease the staffing burden of interlibrary loan among the VIVA members. RapidILL, through its pod structure, can provide better data for borrowing and lending articles among the VIVA institutions, as the data is driven by catalog holdings instead of WorldCat holdings and can match down to the year level. This software, designed specifically for resource sharing, can do automatic processing, routing, and load leveling, and it integrates with existing lending software like ILLiad and Tipasa.
The initial set up fee will be covered by VIVA public Collections Funds, and the annual subscription fee will be covered by a portion of the public Document Delivery Funds. In the first two years (FY22 and FY23), this will likely be around half of the Document Delivery Funds because of splitting the initial year cost across the next two years, and in future years (FY24 and following), it will be closer to a third of the Funds.
As we move toward putting this service into action, we’ll be in touch with technical details and requests, but for now, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
All the best –
Anne.
