Single Stop coming to VCCS
#1
"After more than a year of planning with the Department of Social Services, [VCCS has] finalized the first SNAP 50-50 match for the quarter ending June 30. This first match yielded $397,868.65. The data match for July – September is underway now.

As recommended by ACOP, the first priority for use of these funds will be to bring Single Stop resources to every college. The Shared Services Center has executed an enterprise contract with Single Stop USA to launch the technology tools that will link your students to local community-based resources that can alleviate barriers to student completion, such as food and housing insecurities. Dr. Van Wilson will be leading the implementation of Single Stop across the VCCS.

This is a milestone moment for VCCS; as we enroll more students to receive SNAP benefits and improve our data collection and matching methods, our colleges will receive more funds for coaching and student supports.<> "

Yes, to some extent. At the Annandale campus library, we worked with our Financial Stability office (which heads the college Single Stop program) to lend souped-up iPads to students who were in dire need of technology. Single stop would work with the students, assess their needs and then, if appropriate, send the student to the library for the iPad. We had begun this program back in Fall 2019.

Same at Reynolds. We worked with Single Stop to offer Laptop Loan program.  Single Stop surveys students and screens applicants.   Library checks out the laptops.
