Dear Colleagues,
VCCS is cancelling the (InfoBase) Facts on File - World News Digest system subscription, which will conclude on June 30, 2021.
Based on 68% overall decreased usage since FY18, coupled with very high cost per use (CPU), I agree with our Shared Collection Committee's recent recommendation to cancel. Recognizing that this is a long-standing subscription I wanted make everyone aware now, since it has been the largest part of the Facts on File cost share funded by you.

Although cancellations are never good news, perhaps a silver lining is that the college FY22 Facts on File enterprise costs will be reduced significantly. Our remaining Facts on File product, Issues and Controversies, contains focused news content and continues to be in significant use; renewal is roughly half the cost of World News Digest. Other dedicated news resources remain available in the VIVA shared collection at no cost to the colleges: Factiva primarily, as well as EBSCO Newspaper Source Plus, Newswires, Regional Business News, and Web News.
