At TCC we follow the standard and use separate records for the print and online versions of a resource.  In Alma we have our import profile set to match on ISBN (exact subfield match)/024/035 Match Method.  If an imported record matches on any of those three fields the imported record overlays the existing record already in Alma regardless of format.  This mostly occurs because of the ISBN numbers.
See Alma Match Methods:  https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma...d_Examples

Resolution: In the Import Profile set the option “Single match - match only record with the same inventory type (electronic/physical)” to Single Match: YES.

Note:  To find these problem records currently in Alma use the search:
Physical Item: Advanced Search: Carrier Type Term=”online resource”
