Archives/Special Collections
#1
Hello,
Our library maintains the College archives/special collection. It is currently "cataloged" in a giant Excel workbook and is not accessible to the public. We would like to better catalog it and make it accessible and searchable by all. We would be looking to catalog both physical items and down the road add in some digitized items.
  • Is anyone using Alma to catalog an archives or special collection? If so, are you using brief records, course reserves, full records, or something else?
  • Is anyone using something besides Alma for this purpose? If so, does it integrate with Primo for discoverability? Or does it have its own discovery tool that you're using?
  • Is anyone using an Access database that isn't discoverable via the web, but can be searched or browsed in-house upon request?

Looking forward to learning about how you manage your archives and/or special collections!
