Test and Practice
#1
Have you been practicing with QuestionPoint?? If not, now is the time. As I indicated in the Implementation topic, the 'real' queue for the librarians and the 'real' link for the patron have been created and are available for you to use to practice and test out the QP features.

It's been a few weeks since the webinar, so you may want to view it as a refresher (or if you weren't available to view it live).

Also, there are other training items available from QuestionPoint. Log in to the your My QuestionPoint home page and go to Training and Support in the right hand column. There's also a lot of documentation available to assist you under the Resources section of the same column.

Post any questions, comments, tips, tricks, etc. here so we can learn from each other. Jacque

Jacque,

Suzanne and I tried connecting to QP to practice but we are not having any luck. Are we accessing the correct links?

http://www.questionpoint.org
Launch Chat
Check Monitor Practice Queue only
Wait for a new call

Suzanne logged into http://www.questionpoint.org
Chat patron practice form
Completed the form and asked a question

We never communicated with each other. What are we doing wrong?

Thanks

Christine

Well, that's exactly what you are supposed to do!

Did you check that your browser is set up for QP? I just uploaded the document that lists the IE configurationfor QP into the Download section.

Other that that, I'll have to investigate and will get back to you.

In the meantime, try it with the real queue and link and let me know if that works:

Using the Real Queue: available until 8/18/2008.
1. Only the practice librarian must go to the QuestionPoint home page, http://www.questionpoint.org and log in using the ‘Librarian login.’

2. Practice librarian clicks on Launch Chat and chooses ‘Primary Queue: B VCCS’ and clicks Save.

1.Practice patron uses one of the patron URLs from the list posted in the Download section of the discussion board.

Jacque,

Emad checked the computer settings and made some changes. We are now able to cobrowse and interact in practice QP.

Thank you so much for your help.

I've had several additional questions asked of me about the correct way to access QP for practice. Here are the absolute basics for practicing, listed below and in the Download area for LRC Live. Smile jacque

Practicing QuestionPoint: Access

Before Your Practice:
1. Make sure your browser is set up for QP.
2. Setup guide is in the Download Section of the discussion board or available at http://www5.oclc.org/questionpoint/Chat_setup.pdf

Using the Practice queue: available any time.
1. Both the practice librarian and the practice patron must go to the QuestionPoint home page, http://www.questionpoint.org and log in using the ‘Librarian login' link and your 6 digit authorization number and password.

2. Practice librarian clicks on Launch Chat and chooses ‘Monitor Practice Queue only’ and clicks Save.

3. Practice patron clicks on ‘Chat Patron Practice Form’ at the My QuestionPoint page.

3. Practice patron uses one of the patron URLs from the list. Since it doesn’t matter which one you use for practice, here is the basic VCCS system link, so you don’t have to go look up a URL. http://www.questionpoint.org/crs/servle ... gory=12972
