Is it possible to explore using another method to communicate system-wide issues? Possibly a listserv? There have been several VCCS issues lately that have not trickled down to several of the librarians at our campus. LincSite seems very clunky to me, and I'd rather have emails come directly to me than having to use yet another interface to communicate with peers.

And I do know it's possible to subscribe to forums to get notifications of new posts, but that's not the same as communicating directly with email.

Thanks,
Corey

Yes, I'd be interested in to hear from people on how we could use listservs (or other methods). Thanks,

I agree, it would be more efficient to use a listserv.

Thanks

Ok, I'm the naysayer here. I hate the idea of a listserv, or at least the idea of only a listserv. I subscribe to many listservs and find it even harder to search for previous topics there than I do here. Plus, there will always be some things that legitimately shouldn't go to everyone. If there is a listserv for each group, then we are back to the same problem we have with emailing a single Lincsite group and the person who gets the email not forwarding it to everyone involved.

I agree that LincSite is using a rather old and outdated platform, but I don't think replacing it with a listserv would work any better.

ok, rant over. Smile

Jacque,

Thomas Nelson is running into a scheduling problem with our Monday shift from 3:00pm-4:00pm. Would it be possible to switch to an earlier shift on Monday or to extend our Tuesday shift from 9:00am-10:00am to 9:00am-11:00am or 8:00am-10:00am?

Thanks so very much!

Would Springshare's LibAnswers platform be a possible alternative? Just a thought.

Although I am not currently employed by the VCCS I concur with Jacque's assessment of continuing to use this old and outdated platform....guessing that I fall into that *old school* mantra. Listservs continue to be trendy but also tend to be all-encompassing and may not adequately lend themselves to *information sharing* that should only be targeted to a specific group such as this one.

Case in Point: I substituted for a LRC Live librarian and the individual/college that should've come next wasn't there. I was able to figure out the next college up via Lincsite but where would one get that information if a listserv was utilized.
