Hi I have a question regarding Ebook Central. We have an entry for Ebook Central in our A-Z database list and it uses the linker code of http://library.vccs.edu/license-bin/linker.plx?eblibc This is different than the linker that Tara specified above ( http://library.vccs.edu/license-bin/linker.plx?ebldda); however, it seems that both links take you to the same resource, so is there any difference between the two? I've noticed some other schools also are using the http://library.vccs.edu/license-bin/linker.plx?eblibc linker.
Thanks for any insight!

The TCC linker code checker shows the the eblibc code as being from the VCCS DDA project and having a TCC specific URL. The ebldda code has a VIVA specific URL. Haven't had time to test the results from each since it requires closing and reopening your browser every time to remove the cookie from the previous attempt, so I don't know if there will be a difference between the two. Since TCC still has an EBC DDA project, and has purchased individual EBC titles, I'm going to test to see if both URLs provide access to both the VIVA and TCC resources. If anyone else does the same, please post your results.

Hi Will, they are the same. Knowing that colleges had used different codes over time, it made sense to direct them all to the same place once the product changed over to a standardized VIVA resource, and avoid worrying colleges about changing links. Thanks,
Tara

In my testing this morning, I found that if I use the ebldda link, where the underlying URL is http://viva.eblib.org, I have to choose Tidewater from the list of VIVA institutions. If I use the eblibc link that has an underlying URL of http://tidewater.eblib.org, I skip that step. TCC is no longer using linker codes; we are maintaining the actual URLs in our list A-Z list, instead. I think I'll keep my TCC specific URL in our A-Z list.

Thanks for that tip Jacque - when I used http://jsrcc.eblib.org it also skipped the screen that makes you select your school from the drop down. Because this resource always makes you authenticate from on and off campus, I believe this link should suffice for our A-Z entry. I'm assuming then you can access all of your DDA titles from this link? I'm pretty sure we've never purchased any, but I was just curious if you can access yours.

TCC has purchased EBC titles, we still have a DDA project, and we have an ATO (Access to Own) project, so I was concerned that both links would lead to all four sources of titles: owned, DDA, ATO, and VIVA subscription. I went into the admin portal, LibCentral, and identified a couple of each category, then searched for them under each link. I made sure to close out the browser completely after each test to remove the cookie, and I tested with multiple browsers. All the test titles were found using either link. j
